Brown includes traditional formal structures in many of his works. These include orchestral, ballet, choral, and chamber music. He has also written over three hundred piano pieces aimed at teaching purposes. Brown was born in Middletown, Ohio. He studied piano and composition at the University of North Texas. After that, he did postgraduate work in music composition and orchestration. He studied with the English composer Brian Lock at the University of London. Later, he continued his studies at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Foundation in Rome, Italy. His music has been played at many venues across North America and Europe.
