Scriabin had a favorite chord which he called the “mystic chord” (from the bottom upwards: C, F sharp, B flat, E, A, D). It was used many times and in lots of ways throughout his compositions.
Scriabin was a Russian composer and pianist. Influenced early in his life by the works of Frédéric Chopin, composed works that are characterized by a highly tonal idiom. Later in his career he developed a substantially atonal and much more dissonant musical system. Scriabin was one of the most innovative and most controversial of early modern composers, having a major impact on the music world over time, and influenced composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Prokofiev. His ten published sonatas for piano provided the most consistent contribution to the genre since the time of Beethoven's set.
