About the composer
Leopold Mozart is mainly remembered as the father and teacher of his son, Wolfgang Mozart. However, he was also an important composer himself. He created various musical works, including concertos for different instruments and symphonies.
Leopold wrote a teaching guide called "A Treatise on the Fundamental Principles of Violin Playing." This book explained his method of teaching and was popular enough to be printed many times and translated into other languages. It influenced violin teaching widely.
Recognizing the exceptional talent of his son, Leopold began intense training of Wolfgang. After the year 1771, Leopold stopped composing music entirely. His role then focused on guiding and supporting his son's development as a musician.
