Portrait of Anton Krause

Anton Krause

Nov 9, 1834 - Jan 31, 1907

Germany

Anton Krause was active in the cities of Leipzig and Barmen, where he worked mainly as a piano teacher. His career focused on helping students learn to play the piano. Alongside teaching, he also created piano pieces designed for educational use, aiming to support the learning process for his pupils. In addition to his work with the piano, Krause was involved in leading choirs. He took on the role of a choir conductor, working with groups of singers. This role shows his broader interest in music beyond just piano education, extending into vocal music and group performance. Krause also composed music specifically for church settings. This included sacred songs and other pieces meant to be performed as part of church services. His body of work covers both educational piano music and compositions meant for religious and choral contexts.
