About the composer
Albert Pieczonka was born in Königsberg, a city on the Baltic coast in East Prussia. This city, which suffered heavy damage during the Second World War, is now called Kaliningrad. It is located in the Kaliningrad Oblast, which is the westernmost part of Russia and separated from the main country.
Around 1858, the Pieczonka family moved from continental Europe to London, England. After moving, Albert performed concerts and taught music lessons to children from wealthy families. He spent his time sharing music both on stage and through teaching.
While living in England, Pieczonka composed some of his best-known pieces. Among these works are Dancing Waves, Polish Chivalry, and the Tarantella in A Minor. These compositions are still recognized as part of his musical legacy today.
