About the composer
Jean-Baptiste Duvernoy was a French pianist and composer who lived during the Romantic period. He created music that aimed to help piano players develop their skills. His work mainly focused on improving how fingers move and work together on the piano.
One of Duvernoy's most well-known collections is Elementary Studies, Op. 176. These pieces were made specifically to help pianists build better finger coordination, making playing easier and more precise. This collection remains notable among students learning piano technique.
Another important work by Duvernoy is The School of Mechanism, Op. 120. Alongside it, he composed many other studies with a similar goal of enhancing finger coordination. These pieces have been used by learners to strengthen their technical ability on the piano.
