Nocturno, borrowed from the Latin nocturnus (translates to nocturnal), is a famous musical genre inspired by, or evocative of, the night. This piece has the common dreamy and meditative mood of most known nocturnes but with clean inspiration of the Siciliana musical style, originally from the Baroque era. It is in a slow 6/8 or 12/8 tempo with lilting rhythms, often characterized by dotted rhythms, and is usually in a minor key.
