About this piece
Ginastera considered these pieces as the beginning of his second style period for his piano compositions and said that “all the melodies and rhythms in the Suite are Argentine; however, this material is used in a new, personal and imaginative way, as if inspired by a folklore dream.”
This delicate movement is inspired by the "zamba" rhythm, an intimate dance originally from Peru. It features a simple and yet touching melody floating around a rich harmonic sequence filled with altered chords and surprising sounds.
