Five Animal Sketches is a collection of short character pieces. Besides representing a specific character or mood from an animal, each piece also focuses on very specific techniques. The Horse is a study in wrist and thumb control. The main challenge for the wrist is to keep it relaxed while making the same rotating movement on almost every measure; the thumb will stay on the open position the entire time, which can be difficult to do while keeping it relaxed and light.
