About this piece
Lemoine is relatively unknown today, but he wrote several wonderful pedagogical pieces, including those found in the album Études enfantines.
This piece focuses on smooth repeated notes. The technique involves playing the same note many times without losing contact with the key, which requires controlling the hammer inside the piano so it does not fully return to its resting position before striking the string again. This allows pianists to produce repeated notes with a legato touch.
