Lemoine is relatively unknown today, but he wrote several wonderful pedagogical pieces, including those found in the album Études enfantines. This study is a lullaby that helps develop rubato. The lyrical right-hand melody is remarkably simple yet expressive. Another feature of the piece is the position of the hands, which must remain wide open for much of the time.
