The Tambourine is a traditional folk dance in lively duple meter. This dance was most popular during the 18th century and it can be found in the music of Rameau, Handel, and Gluck. The percussive and lively character makes this a great piece for the development of fast finger action and energetic non-legato. The broken octaves in the left hand provide an extra challenge and should be played light with the wrist slightly suspended.
