The Music Box Op.32

Anatoly Lyadov

About this piece
This piece mimics the sounds and mood of a musical box, an automatic musical instrument in a box that produces notes by using a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder to pluck the tuned teeth of a steel comb. We should be careful not to play this music using rubato or making it sound too "romantic". The sound should be gentle, steady, and almost mechanical, to represent the nature of musical boxes.
Is this your next piece?
It could be a good match if you're an intermediate pianist with a solid foundation and strong technique.
