Price's 5 Preludes are a unique set among her piano works. This is the only collection with "absolute " music, rather than characteristic or programmatic pieces. The second prelude in this set is characterized by a gentle main melody with quick repeated notes. The middle section is much more energetic, and the wild harmonic changes create a real sense of urgency to the music.
