While "Solfeggio" usually refers to a vocal exercise for improving scale singing, this piece is actually more like a "Solfeggietto". C.P.E. Bach wrote many such pieces and these are short, technical exercises for keyboard players, designed to enhance finger dexterity and hand coordination.
