Although this sonata was written in the romantic period, it is very much in the classical style. It is similar in level to Clementi's sonatinas and so a very good introduction to this type of repertoire. The writing is very clean and it has all the ingredients of a beautiful classical little sonata: a lyrical first theme, a tempestuous development section, and plenty of scale passages to help you develop dexterity and evenness of sound.
