Many of Schönberg’s earlier compositions were written by following the traditional piano composition, far from the atonal work that made him famous. Between these, we have the “Six Pieces for Piano Four Hands,” dedicated to Bella Cohn, Schönberg's friend. During this period he'd been advised to keep practicing by composing works for piano in the style of Schubert. Each piece in this collection is technically simple yet musically original and intriguing.
