"Primeira Suíte Brasileira" is one of three piano suites composed by Lorenzo Fernandez. These suites are important not only for their beauty but also for their educational value, as they showcase various Brazilian folk music styles. Each suite consists of three movements, providing a clear and structured introduction to Brazilian folklore through music. The first movement, "Velha Modinha", is particularly notable for its ability to make the piano sound like a guitar. Fernandez was so successful with this effect that he later created a solo guitar version of "Velha Modinha", dedicating it to the famous guitarist Andrés Segovia in 1938.
