"Primeira Suíte Brasileira" is one of three piano suites composed by Lorenzo Fernandez. These suites are important not only for their beauty but also for their educational value, as they showcase various Brazilian folk music styles. Each suite consists of three movements, providing a clear and structured introduction to Brazilian folklore through music.
The second movement, "Suave Acalanto", is a lullaby that uses delicately plucked notes in the accompaniment to create a dreamy and distant mood. While at first this movement may not seem too difficult, voicing the top notes in the right hand while maintaining a very light and steady left hand is particularly challenging.
