Burgmüller's Opus 100 is an excellent collection of short studies for beginner/intermediate level pianists. Each piece focuses on one main style or technique common in the piano repertoire. The Limpid Stream's clear challenge is on the thumb. This is a great piece to develop the skill to play a melody with the thumb (with a full and deep sound) and accompaniment notes with the same hand (with a gentle and light sound).
