About the composer
Alexander Scriabin was a Russian composer and pianist known for his early influence by Frédéric Chopin's works. In the beginning of his career, his music was marked by a strong use of traditional tonal ideas. He wrote pieces that were clear in their harmony and followed familiar musical patterns.
As his career went on, Scriabin's style changed significantly. He developed a new way of composing that was less focused on traditional tonality and used more dissonance and atonal elements. This made his later work quite different from his earlier pieces and stood out as very innovative for his time.
Scriabin became known as one of the most creative and sometimes controversial composers in the early modern period. His influence spread widely, affecting famous composers like Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Prokofiev. Among his works, his ten published piano sonatas are seen as a key contribution, being the most consistent in the genre since Beethoven's sonatas.
