Burgmüller Op. 109 is a wonderful collection of small character studies. Each piece presents a consistent technical problem, which is often the main idea of the piece, while at the same time having a distinct and lovely musical appeal. "The storm" has a tempestuous and passionate melody, just like the name suggests. The main challenge here is playing smoothly the broken octaves and broken arpeggios that compose the piece.
