Mélanie Bonis' Album for the Young is a wonderful collection with 20 pieces that range from elementary to early beginner levels. These are very imaginative character-pieces that also serve as little studies since each piece explores a specific technique. Madrigal is a great study in pedal and gentle left-hand accompaniment for beginners. The staccato signs on the left-hand indicate a light release and add to the piece's gentle and almost naive mood.
