Petizada is a piano suite written in 1912, based on traditional children's songs. Villa-Lobos' fascination with the world of children is well represented in this beautiful set. "Assim ninava mamãe" is a tender lullaby, although the arrangement gives a hint of sadness to this music. Perhaps this piece is much more the composer's memories of his childhood, rather than a simple depiction of those long-gone years.
