This piece is part of the "5 Miniature Preludes and Fugues", an excellent set for beginners to learn the basic techniques about counterpoint.
The fourth Miniature explores great contrast between the prelude and the fugue: while the first is melancholic, the latter is lively. The fugue explores a technique called "stretto", where the theme is played by both voices at the same time but one measure apart.
