The "tree cycle" is one of the finest examples of the composer's sensitive, poetic writings: "the trees speak" to him. This is one of Sibelius' most famous piano works.

This is one of Sibelius's indisputable hits, a slow waltz that is both simple and extremely expressive. The melancholic main theme contrasts with the bold and dark arpeggios in the middle section.
